Little Fishes

Little Fishes

This informal service for pre-school children and their Mums or carers takes place each week (term-time only) on Tuesday mornings from 10.30am to 12 noon. The Vestry is prepared for the children by covering the floor with toys which have been donated over the years. Refreshments are prepared in the church kitchen ready to be brought in to the Mums after the service.

First of all the children help to ring the church bell. [ We have been asked in the past "What sort of service was going on? it couldn’t have been a funeral, the bell was ringing too fast!" So, you see,  we do get noticed! ]

After this we troop down the aisle singing, “Liitle Fishes, come with me”. Then it is time for prayer ending with the Little Fishes Prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us and always being our friend.”  After this we have a story from the Children’s Bible. Then comes the time for singing; “He’s got the whole world in his hands”, “Hooray for Jesus”, “Jesus’ love is very wonderful”, “Who’s the King of the Jungle?” We also have a few simple musical instruments, which the children play with gusto!

To end the morning, teas, coffee, juice and biscuits are served in the choir vestry. The children and Mums help to put all the toys into plastic boxes and they are put away until the next week.
